My 2011 Reading Highlights

Here are some books that I really enjoyed from 2011 (i.e., I read them in 2011 - many of them were published long ago):

Everything is Obvious
The Master Switch: The Rise and Fall of Information Empires
A Soldier of the Great War
Microcosm: E. coli and the New Science of Life
The Rational Optimist: How Prosperity Evolves
All Quiet on the Western Front
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption

Right now I'm reading these:
The Penguin and the Leviathan: How Cooperation Triumphs over Self-Interest
To Draw Closer to God: A Collection of Discourses

I'm also on Goodreads.

About Me

I'm a PhD student at Northwestern University, studying Media, Technology, and Society.

I'm interested in how we can use computational social science, social network analysis, and machine learning (all of which overlap somewhat) to understand ourselves.

I'm on Google+ most, but I'm also on Twitter @jdfoote
